What Is A SoyRoaster?

Watch the video as Lydell Martin gives a walk-through of a completed SoyRoaster system, ready to ship to a customer’s farm. Lydell will explain how the soybeans flow from your storage bin into the roaster hopper through a fill auger, then enter the oil-jacketed roaster where they are cooked. From there, the beans are transferred to the cooling hopper and cooled down to ambient temperature using a built-in axial fan. Once cooled, they are ground in the hammermill, which delivers a consistent particle size ideal for feeding. The roasted soymeal then exits the container through a discharge pipe and can be directed to your feed bunk or storage bin. Everything is automated and controlled through a touchscreen panel, making the SoyRoaster a simple, efficient solution for on-farm soybean roasting.

Video Overview

This video provides a detailed tour of a state-of-the-art, preassembled, and automated soybean roasting system housed within a container. Hosted by A. N. Martin Systems LLC, the walkthrough highlights the seamless integration of feeding, roasting, cooling, and grinding processes.

Key Features and Components

  • Automated Feeding System: The process begins at the receiving hopper, which features a fill switch to monitor bean levels. The system is designed for easy connection to an external auger for continuous filling.

  • Complete Automation: The entire operation is managed via a central automation panel. For efficiency and convenience, the container is equipped with motion-sensor lighting that activates upon entry.

  • Precision Grinding: The system includes a hammer mill and a variable-speed auger. These allow for precise adjustments to the grind size to meet specific product requirements.

  • Advanced Cooling and Ventilation: After roasting, beans pass over a magnet into a cooling hopper. The system includes a dedicated cooling fan and a steam vent to remove moisture and heat.

  • Integrated Product Transport: A high-powered blower sucks the finished meal from the hammer mill and transports it through the roof. This allows for direct piping to a finished product bin or commodity bay.

The Roasting Process

The “SoyRoaster” is engineered for optimal nutrient availability and quality:

  • Steeping: The system allows beans to steep for half an hour before the cooling process begins.

  • Customizable Controls: Operators can adjust the roast temperature, steep time, conveyance speed, and grinding parameters all from a single control center.
